Restaurant suggestions?

We've been to Aladdin's, Thai Orchid, Brixx, Ilios Noche, and Melting Pot, recently. Would folks like a second MNO option each month, or rotate around the city? Where is your favorite restaurant?

Do you want to try Italian, Vietnamese, Spanish, Latin, English, German, Kabobs, Greek, Chinese, Japanese, Cajun, Malaysian, Brazilian, Mexican, Indian...

What sounds delicious, exciting or intriguing???

Anything beyond the ordinary or mundane. I am so tired of chain restaurants...I would love to try anything new! I loved Thai Orchid when we went there. I am also interested in finding a yummy Indian place. That's just my two cents. I'll be happy just to get out!

A second MNO option might be a good thing for me, since I don't often have a sitter. But really, I just need to plan better. ;-)

At the last MNO there was talk of finding a place in Steele Creek area. That would be closer to several people that were there but still do-able for those of us in South Charlotte. Someone who knows the area will need to pick though, Pat and I aren't familiar with that part of town.

The MNO is a lot of fun. I've really enjoyed the ones I have attended.

Meskerem Ethiopian now serves all organic vegetarian dishes!
I can't come on Tues. or Thur. nights (ballet & tap class). So, two meetings in a months, means maybe I can catch one. Is there a usual day of the week for the meetings?

There's Saffron Indian in Arslye (Steele Creek area),
a Piece of Havana (S. Tyron/49 and Carowinds Blvd) - Carribean - haven't tried it, heard it's good
Cantina 1511 in Stonecrest
131 on Main (Rea Rd area - expensive, but great food - can get yummy veggie plate $14 I think)
Firebirds (Stonecrest )
Bombay Grille (Pineville - Indian)
Tamarind (Pineville - Indian - haven't tried yet, heard it's good)

Waldhorn (German - near Pineville)
Miro (Spanish - Stonecrest)
Monsoon Thai (heard it's great - near Home Economist South Blvd & Remount Rd - not great area, I think)

I love food and eating out. I am open to most cuisines.

Also, another event we could do is go to Cajun Canvas (http://www.cajuncanvas.com/) and paint a picture. You don't need to bring anything and the instructor shows you how to paint the picture and you take the completed canvas home in 3 hours. The cost is $35 or $45 or less, depends on the day. She has classes weeknights from 7-9:30 and Sat 12-3 and 7-10pm. I am planning on going this Sat. from 12-3. Or I could be persuaded to go from 7-10 on Sat., she is having Cuban food starting at 6pm for $35 (includes painting). It hasn't been crowded. It's located at S.Tyron (49) and Carowinds - close to Steele Creeke. Anyone interested?

I looooooooove Mexican! Can we go closer to south or SW Charlotte this time?
Is there an evening that would work for you and we could plan an outing over your way.

Thanks for all the fabulous suggestions!

The Cajun Canvas sounds fun.

Pat
Do you have a favorite Mexican restaurant over your way?

Pat
That looks interesting. Have you been there? It looks like it is mid-town.

Can you join us Tuesday if we do Indian at Saffron Indian in Arslye (Steele Creek area)? http://www.saffron-cuisine.com/
I have been to the Canjun Canvas and painted beautiful pictures. It requires no artistic talent or experience. I took my 12 yr old daughter with me and she had fun. It's next to A Piece of Havana (Cuba food). The Canjun Canvas is near Steele Creeke/Fort Mill area. You would take I-77 South past I-485 and exit at Carowind Blvd, go West on Carowinds and then left on S. Tryon (49).
11116 S Tryon St # B
Charlotte, NC 28273
I have a ballet class in Fort Mill at 8pm, so it would depend on the time.
Hmmm...we usually meet at 7:30pm.

Poison Ivy

Does anyone have suggestions for relieving poison ivy itch?  I'm new to holistic treatments, and hubby has a small case of what he thinks is poison ivy or oak on face and hands.
