Thanks for your thoughts Missy. I too have done the slowly pulling myself away nursing down with all 3 of my kids. My first born was most challenging with that.
This baby, Jason, wakes I beleive because he starts moving the minute he stirs. First it was crawling when he was beginning to crawl and now he is standing. The other night when he woke up, I found him standing where the bed meets the wall, eyes not really even open yet.
We have the bed off the frame and have minimized safety issues.
I have actually been able to lay him down in the bed a handful of times now and he has slept about 45 minutes- an hour, longer at night. This is a huge improvement! I used to lay him down in bed and he would nap 2 or 3 hours at times but as soon as he got mobile, about at 5 months..? maybe earlier, he would wake so quickly when I layed him down that after awhile, I stopped trying!

He is 8 1/2 months now and is pulling to stand and has just started letting go while standing. Maybe when he is fully mobile, he will settle into naps better- or so I can hope!
Thank goodness he is so easy going- being the third child and the older kids being 11 and 7 years and with homeshcooling we are out and about so much- but Jason seams good with that. Just no car trips in the dark- my first born was all about b…tag:xploringholisticalternatives.ning.com,2009-09-21:2327957:Comment:150782009-09-21T21:11:44.920ZMissyhttp://xploringholisticalternatives.ning.com/profile/Missy
my first born was all about being with momma...I used to nurse him to sleep, then ever so slowly peel myself away finger by finger, inch by inch, then he'd reach for me and we'd start all over again! Eventually, he got to a point where he'd fall asleep nursing and then I could go about doing other stuff while he rested in our bed. It's not easy, I know, when they are light sleepers, but like you mentioned, there's always the possibility that he's teething and the nursing is very comforting to…

It's not easy, I know, when they are light sleepers, but like you mentioned, there's always the possibility that he's teething and the nursing is very comforting to him especially now. Wish I could give you more "survival" tips, b/c I'm sure it's challenging with 2 others that want your attention. Sending sleepy, peaceful vibes your way! Missy Teething not seething....
