I had my first 2 at Matt. Presbyterian and both were great experiences, no difficulties, having my 3rd as homebirth this time and am very excited about it. I have a great Doula and wish I had gone this route before just didn't know much about it. Reassuring to hear all the comments and am really glad I looked into it this time. I am due in April. What gets me is how "rare" this is although it is a completely natural process that humankind has been doing since our existence up until a few generations ago. I am so happy to have looked into this and to know of others that feel the same way.

Glad to see you joined Leslie! I think it helps to have support from others who have given birth at home since our culture does not accept this as an option. Just telling my mom my decision was difficult. Although today my dad called and told me how they went to a patient advocate seminar and they talked about all the problems that happen in the hospital (in general with going to the hospital)- which seamed to be news to him as he told me how the hospital can "kill you"- he tends to be a bit dramatic, and so I added, "and that is why I am having a homebirth." And he just replied, "Yea, mom reminded me of that."

I had a homebirth with my first and am now planning a homebirth for my next 2- twin boys due in Feb. I'll definitely let you guys know how it goes!

I had a beautiful wonderful AWESOME home waterbirth for my fourth baby. It was really spectacular to go from a hospital birth with an epidural (with my twin boys), to a birth center (with my older daughter), to a homebirth with my younger daughter. I don't plan to have more kids, but if there's an oops, we'll have another homebirth.

Haven't been around much. This pregnancy is kicking my butt right now. Got some bad news at my appointment today- August, our baby, is now presenting breech. I am almost 37 weeks so not very happy about this. So if any of you have and good suggestions I would love to hear them. TIA

Terri, meditate on everything being exactly as it needs to be and trusting that it will be so. Trusting birth turns a baby.

You could also check about birthing at The Farm. They frequently support vaginal breech births.

Terri- I'm sure your MW has experience with breech births, my 1st twin was breech and it really wasn't too bad, I didn't even tear. Maybe you could try chiropractic work to help the baby turn?

Poison Ivy

Does anyone have suggestions for relieving poison ivy itch?  I'm new to holistic treatments, and hubby has a small case of what he thinks is poison ivy or oak on face and hands.
