Hi Pat,
This group is great! I wish I could go to the "Are Vaccines Safe" but I teach class that night:( I am planning to go to the meeting this Wednesday night at Earthfare- I am currently looking into training to become a Doula and recently danced at the play "Birth" in support of birth awareness (so awesome!)
We have met a couple times briefly at the few homeschool events that we have made it to! - I am often running around with all my boys that I rarely get a chance to chat:) Talk to you soon...

Hi Pat. I was in your HMN group and organized last year's Mom's Holiday party at the resaurant. I moved to Indian Trail in January and Charlotte is too far for me to do alot of the stuff so I kinda just dropped out.

Do you know who I am?

I am hoping to make it to the meeting on the 15th. My husband doesn't get home until about 7:40 so I'll be a little late. I am on Charlotte Mommies but not sure what Via Materna is. Not part of the HS group you asked about.

I am on the nw side. And we only have one vehicle which my husband uses to work about 7 days a week. So, getting out is pretty hard! Are both events on the south side?

Miriam is almost 2.

Hey there,

I'd love to join you all for both events, but our October is pretty busy. My folks are arriving from the west coast next week (on the 15th), and we're headed down to the beach on the 25th for family vaca. Hopefully, I'll get to meet you in November. We live in south charlotte, and my kiddos are 2 and 6 months. Hope that you're having a great friday.

Thank you! The picture is of the marsh area in Florida at the wildlife perserve we go to. Speaking of Fl We are actually here now. We have been in FL all week so I haven't looked much at the site. I think I will have some catching up to do when I get home.

It was your B-day? I didn't know that. Well Happy Birthday! :D even if it is a few days late.

We will be at the potluck. We look forward to it. It will be nice for Sean to meet some of the people so he can put a face with the name.

I hope everything is going well. I'm sure I'll see you soon.

Hey Pat!
I am in south Charlotte too,...near Alexander and Providence intersection. I am working on finding you a holistic dentist as I will need one too in the not too distant future. Right now, Dr. Robert Lloyd (near the Arboretum) 704-540-5076 is who I would choose if I had an emergency. I don't know how his ventilation system is, but I do know that he uses a "rubber dam" on all procedures which totally isolates the tooth and keeps debris from going down your throat. He also uses "porcelain" for crowns and does do composite restorations (white fillings). I guess I really need to sit down and talk with him just to see how "into" this he really is. As far as your child goes, I would recommend Dr. Stephanie Chen's pediatric practice, 704-365-0888. While she is not a "holistic" practitioner per se, she does greatly respect the wishes of parents who are "holistic/organic," and works with them. I love how she lets the parents go back with the kids AND she is very accessable and personable. I know of a man who has a practice in Denver (near Lake Norman) who really does do "holistic dentistry." We are suppose to have lunch soon so we can compare notes on our issues with current dental protocols. These are very "touchy" subjects and I am reluctant to talk with just any colleague about them, because most dental professionals are in lock step with whatever the ADA says and the ADA is in lock step with a whole bunch of interests I would rather not say in this format. I will get back to you on this when I know more.
I have 6 kids ranging in ages from 17 to 26,.....3 sons I gave birth to, but my other son and two daughters are my "bonus kids" when I married my incredible husband.
I hope to attend at least one of the group functions and meet you face to face!
Blessings,
Dianne

Thanks for the welcome. I have three children: a daughter, age 11; a son, age 8 and a daughter almost 7. We are moving to South Charlotte as well. We are just waiting to sell our home in MA. It is a tough time selling but I know once I get to the buying part - I will be more relieved. It's great getting your e-mails and now this website. We use a lot of alternative healthcare and I am learning so much about what is available in the area. It will make our transition less challenging :)

She is the one that emailed me this site. I live in north east charlotte-highland creek subdivision by concord mills outlet mall. we have lived here less then 1 year. thanks for the welcome.

Thank you for the welcome. What a great opportunity this site provides. I can't wait to exchange information. And someday when the schedule eases up a bit, meet some mamas.
Thanks!

Thanks for the the Dr. tip. I am very concerned about vaccines and have already started to do some light research. My husband and my brother are both dyslexic. And even though it is controversial I still worry about vaccines being a contributor to dyslexia at the least and autism and brain damage at the extreme.
We moved here about a year ago. And are still putting down roots. My husband's parents and brother live here so we are not completely without help. But I am just starting to get my mommy network together.
I am glad we are not alone as "antique" parents. We are taking a Bradley birth class and we could easily be the parents of most in the class. But we were not ready until now.
I have signed up for LaLeche's newsletter and I have noted their monthly meeting at Earthfare. I will be attending in November as this is the next meeting. Was this the group that you visited?
Thanks again for the info. ;-)

Hi Pat - Thanks for the welcome. I live in Charlotte right near the Ballantyne Resort. I am planning to move to SC in the next 45 days though, just over the border of Johnston Rd. I am about 6 months pregnant and beginning my peditrician search. I would appreciate any suggestions, especially since you are a former nurse.

BTW - I married my high school sweetheart too. We've been married 17 years. Is your son your first? My pregnancy is my first.

Thanks - Molly

Shoot. I think I just lost my note to you...lol! BTW I did receive two notes from you so I guess your other one was not lost...yea! Hope you had fun tonight. I was bummed I couldn't make it and I can't make the play group tomorrow. 1:00 -3:00 is when Elizabeth gets her best nap. We really do need to find a mother's helper and babysitter but I'm not ready yet. I need to meet more people and get better familar with the area down here. I do have a day care that use a couple of days a week. It's working out really well for Antonia because she has made friends. Our rental comples doesn't have a lot of families in it.

Very cool you started a community garden. Where is it? It must be so wonderful to see the progress each visit. How did you get your son so excited about recycling (what is his name)? I can't freaking believe the YMCA does not recycle. Do you mean your local one or the whole region? That is so CRAZY! Do you have enough friends that are members that could add some pressure (we are not members)?

Thanks for the water barrel update :) I will put it in my mental file. Good night

Hello,
I live near Mountain Island Lake, the northwest section of Charlotte and my son is a year old. I really like being home with him and being a mother, greatest thing I have ever done. Would love to make it to a MNO, when are they? Thanks,
Cara

Poison Ivy
