we have a sandbox that has never been bothered by cats b/c most of the cats in our neighborhood are solely outdoor (they use the woods) or solely indoor. Now 2 new cats have moved in (indoor/outdoor type) and they think our sandbox is their litter box. YIKES! Should I just take all the sand out and start over or is it possible to "shock" the sand somehow and sanitize it. I can't deal with my 2 year old playing in a "litter" box, but she loves her sandbox. Any ideas?
I don't know. This happened to us before and we had to take out all the sand and replace it. It smelled gross. We covered it with a tarp to keep the cats out. I have one that enjoyed my garden last year so I will have to put a fence around it this year.
