Families practicing: Alternative & Natural Health; Attachment and Mindful Parent

Ok, so I'm cleaning our computer room/library type room. I have Mothering Magazines dating back probably 10 years - LOL! I'm looking for input. Should I continue to save them? I do reference them every once in a while but RARELY and most things are on-line now.

If you do think I should get rid of them, do I recycle them or is there a place to donate them? Yes, I'm having a hard time thinking about saying goodbye :) Usually, I'm pretty good at purging but this seems hard, for some reason but I could use the space.

Thanks for your thoughts!!

Ok, Anna didn't ask me, because I am a pack rat. LOL

You are correct! LOL! Anna
I would post them on Freecycle or maybe the Free section of Craigslist. Maybe someone would love to have all those magazines!

When we moved here I had to part with a bunch of milk crates of magazines. Looking back I should have donated them, but I ended up recycling them, since we were doing a huge household purge and I was recycling a lot of other paper as well. It was very hard to part with things I had held onto for all those years "just in case". But to tell you the truth, I never looked at them!

I am a purger. Only hang onto a few things. I married a saver. And have two children who save everything. My philosophy is that if it is important to the person we can find room for it. So I purge MY things, but am totally OK with the 3 savers in my family. I think your family would totally understand if you are not ready to get rid of them yet and you could probably find a place for them somewhere. I do save Mother Earth News. Even though it is online AND you can get the CD ROMs, I still love the feel of the pages and flipping through them.

OK so that reply was no help at all, LOL. I saw either way is fine.

Thanks Cara and Pam. I FINALLY finished the room last night. It is the smallest room in the house but it was FILLED to the brim and took ALL day to sort. We had 2 bags of trash and 3 bags of recycle. I ended up keeping my Mothering Magazines, at least for now. I was able to part with some others and freed up some space. I still may try to find a home for them somewhere soon though.

I have all my Mother Earth News, Life Learning and Living Crafts too - LOL! I just haven't had those for as long so they don't take up quite so much space!

I keep going back in the room to admire our work :) It does feel great to get things straightened. It's a little stressful for Raelin who likes to hold onto EVERYTHING but I'm fine with that. We just find ways for her to keep everything she needs to and still get things organized to optimize our space.

Poison Ivy

Does anyone have suggestions for relieving poison ivy itch?  I'm new to holistic treatments, and hubby has a small case of what he thinks is poison ivy or oak on face and hands.
