A roundtable discussion led by an experienced homeschooler

This discussion is for the brand new homeschooler, the 2nd year
homeschooler who wants to get some encouragement or answers to specific
questions and anyone else who could use a lift or enjoys passing along their
experience. It is also open to those interested in learning more. I will
plan to start out with legal requirements and the local resources available
to homeschoolers. From there we will answer questions. Feedback from similar
workshops have indicated that you will leave feeling more confident in your
decision and uplifted on your journey.

I can discuss curriculum/methods to a point, however, for better help on
that, I highly recommend the Homeschool Informational meetings at Growing
Scholar (http://growingscholars.com/upcoming_events.htm).

You may email me with questions. It is nice to know who all may be coming,
but you do not have to RSVP. The room holds 30+ comfortably and we can
squeeze in more than that. Typically I have 15 to 20 folks at a meeting.
Please feel free to pass this along to anyone who may be interested. Though
my information list is Christian based, my talks are inclusive. I seek to
support homeschoolers regardless of religion, methods or homeschooling
philosophy.

Hope folks will come out if they are interested in possibly homeschooling, or new to homeschooling. Karen is a wealth of information!

My husband and I will be there but may have the kids if that is ok?
That will be fine. Just bring something quiet for them to do either at a table or on the floor. I usually have chairs set up around tables. Most people do come without children but it is a relaxed atmosphere and a few kid noises are not going to bother me.

If anyone else is reading this, please use your best judgement as to whether or not your child can be quietly busy in a room of adults talking. I know personally that some of my kids could do this and some couldn't. My youngest wouldn't likely bother anyone too much but I wouldn't be able to pay attention.

Poison Ivy

Does anyone have suggestions for relieving poison ivy itch?  I'm new to holistic treatments, and hubby has a small case of what he thinks is poison ivy or oak on face and hands.
