We have about 110 families in the Boys Playgroup email loop!! So, we've created a Yahoogroup to facilitate communication. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BoysPlaygroup/ Join directly, or let me know if you'd prefer to receive an "Invite" directly from Yahoo for ease of receiving updates.

This Boys Adventure Playgroup is to connect the homeschool families looking for friends. Post about playgroup activities or fun outings for boys in the ~5-10+ range (and their siblings). The desire is to create meaningful and familiar connections with consistent gatherings. These could be smaller, more personal 'get to know you' opportunities. I hope this will allow folks fewer email messages, since there are so many on E&D each week. Consider changing your E&D messages to "daily digest", and have individual emails on the Boys Playgroup for last minute outings and updates.

Everyone is welcome to post activities and fun outings. There are many possibilities. What sounds fun?!

Do you all want to go rock climbing, ice skating, roller skating, swimming, hiking, camping, Nature Museum, mini-golf, speed park, spray ground, soccer, fly kites, rock hopping, canoeing, fishing, farms, parks, theater, festivals, museums, bonfires... everyone can plan and post and we'll join up with you!

Here are some activities we'd like to explore:

camping
Atlanta Aquarium, GA
Kennedy Space Center, FL

Rock Climbing
Music on the Green, Providence Promenade or Stonecrest on Fri/Sat nights.
SCarowinds

the beach
Letterboxing
Knights baseball
basketball game
hockey game

Canoeing (Lake Norman State Park?)
Paddle boating (Cane Creek?)
Cane Creek Park- hiking
McDowell Nature preserve- hiking

Tie dye t-shirts
Meteor shower
Hot air balloon ride

"The School's Out Forever Homeschool Getaway", Stone Mountain, GA
http://www.schoolsoutforever.org/

Monthly bonfire?
Family potluck?

Bike ride- McMullen Creek greenway (Pineville area)
McAlpine Park greenway
Freedom Park around the lake

Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens
Lowe's Motor Speedway tour

Corn Maze
Pumpkin Pickin'
Waterfall trip to the mountains
Moms Night Out

Picnics
White Water Park
Amtrack ride to Raleigh (visit a museum?)
Greek Fest
Festival in the Park

Which of these sound fun for your families? What other fun activities would you all like to explore as a group? Everyone is welcome to select an activity, date, and location and we'd love to join you all!

Also, "BOYS FUN CLUB" is first and third Fridays at 521-Rec Center, from 11a-12:30pm. Generally, these are geared for 5-10+ year olds. This could be organized or structured, fun projects, activities, games, crafts, for 30+ minutes of fun.

Additionally, "GIRLS FUN CLUB" is first and third Fridays at 521-Rec Center, from 12:30pm-2pm. Generally, these are geared for 5-10+ year olds. This could be organized or structured, fun projects, activities, games, crafts, for 30+ minutes of fun. Contact Sheila Rumble at srumble1122@yahoo.com for more information. Or join the Girls Play Group for updates and details about supplies and fun outings for girls (and their siblings). http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GirlsPlaygroup

Poison Ivy

Does anyone have suggestions for relieving poison ivy itch?  I'm new to holistic treatments, and hubby has a small case of what he thinks is poison ivy or oak on face and hands.
