Living a healhy life by taking care of our planet.
How long have you been interested in holistic living?
10 years.
a little about me
We just moved here from Los Angeles, I can't belive how NON-Enviromental this city is! First I am the only one to recicle in my neborhood, then they are giving plastic bags at the grocery stores, and people eat so much meat, and smoke inside the reasturants!!!!!!!! I am also the only one to have my own vegetable garden, almost impossible to find a vegetarian or microbiotic restaurant around here! And than there is the fact that I can't find a antroposophic doctor in the all Charlotte area, nobady even know what I am talking about! We don't go to regular doctors anymore. I can't even find a homeopath. it has been a little hard for me and my child, because I am VERY enviromental, vegetarian, and only eat organic food, use solar power when I can.

We have a thriving homeschool group of 500+ families. We just posted for families who were interested in a community garden, in our area. A friend offered her big back yard. We tilled up a 50x50 area and pulled it together in about 3 weeks.
It was fun!
Most were totally novice. And there are community gardens available through the Meck Park and Rec system. And Matthews has a community garden. Another of my friend's is into Urban gardening and turning yards into gardens. Have you seen "Path to Freedom"? http://pathtofreedom.com/
Where are you located? I have friends who want to do a community garden up toward NE Charlotte.
Wow, it sounds like a bit of culture shock! Charlotte is growing. But, we haven't caught up with the outside world completely! We're glad you are here though!
We see a classical homeopath. I think there are 3-4 homeopaths in Charlotte.
Have you considered doing a recycling campaign in your neighborhood? Perhaps, writing up a flyer to put in mailboxes about the cumulative benefit of each household recycling x number of boxes and cans and bottles per week. We have a "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle..." forum. Perhaps, start a discussion about how to help folks become more aware. Together, we can make a difference!
We have a large vegetable garden and we started a community garden for our homeschool community this spring. We had 20 families participating and the news came out and did a report on us. Here is a link about it: http://news14.com/content/top_stories/597892/mothers-and-children-garden-together/Default.aspx
