Families practicing: Alternative & Natural Health; Attachment and Mindful Parent

I got this idea from the NCFOM site where someone posted that they had supplies left from their home birth that were not used and would like to sell them.
I would be interested in finding out if anyone has left over homebirth supplies- not used obviously that they would like to get rid of. I also would like to hear where others got their supplies and ideas on the lowest cost way to get all the supplies needed.
Thanks for your input! I hope to gather mine by early December as I am due early January.

I actually made an online registry for my family that year for Christmas. I asked for a birth kit, birth tub, birthing ball, Ergo carrier, etc. It was nice to get gifts that I could really use instead of the usual clothes, jewelry, lotion. My mom bought me my birth kit and birth tub. She loved getting me something useful too!

I did the same for my kids and put a lot of nice natural, wooden toys and games on the registry. We got a lot less plastic that year!

What a great idea! How did you create the registry? We are getting together with my family at Thanksgiving to have our "christmas" this year- but we pick names and just buy for one family. Not sure my sister would buy me a birth kit- I am sure I am the talk of the family right now with planning this homebirth.
Cara I got your message about supplies you have- sounds great- and I will think about the birth tub-
I did not want to get in the tub with my last birth but it was when I got to the hospital- so I have always figured I would not do that- but- it might be nice- it would have to go in my living room though- only place with enough room in my house
I created one on www.thethingsiwant.com but there are many others. If you do a search for "online registry" you can find some that aren't affiliated with any stores. With thethingsiwant.com you could be online looking for a certain item, once you find it you would go to your bookmarks and click "add to thethingsiwant" and it would make an entry in your online registry. This was a very cool function. Your family doesn't have to buy the item at the online store you bookmarked or even online. They can mark off an item as purchased on their own. I liked this so that the grandmas wouldn't buy the same stuff.

I may set one up for the kids again this year. Our families appreciated it since they live far away and don't always know what my kids are into. I liked it cause I could stem the tide of noisy plastic toys from my playroom!

Poison Ivy

Does anyone have suggestions for relieving poison ivy itch?  I'm new to holistic treatments, and hubby has a small case of what he thinks is poison ivy or oak on face and hands.
