Families practicing: Alternative & Natural Health; Attachment and Mindful Parent

I just wanted to share this. Dd is 19 mo.s old and we've struggled with "something" since she was born. All of my kids have food sensitivities so I took out the usual: milk and I thought soy mostly. However, she struggled with what looked like a very yeasty diaper rash all of the time which turned into what looked like ring worm in her diaper area. Also, she had severe eczema behind her ears which would bleed poor kid and started to develop it around her mouth. I just couldn't figure out what was going on. I gave her probiotics almost every day. It was really frustrating.

Then a great thing happened. She got the stomach flu. I know it sounds crazy but it allowed her to clean her system out. She breastfed only with no solids for 8 days. All of her eczema disappeared completely as well as the diaper redness. Then I gave her a Clif Bar (I was anxious to have her eat anything at that point, she was losing weight rapidly) and her mouth broke out immediately with accompanying diaper rash.

Ah, hah. It was soy! I took it back out and the ecz. and diap. rash cleared again. She's since had one strong reaction when I made stir fry for the family excluding soy sauce from her veggies but she reacted with redness around her mouth just by it being on the table (she did that once before in a Japanese restaurant).

Her IGG blood test shows negative but *who cares*, she obviously has an issue and I'm SOOO happy to find what the thing was that was irritating her system so much! :)

IgE is the more serious reaction that you are describing. Did you have IgE blood testing or skin prick test for soy? Or IGg? Cause, imo, I'd want an EpiPen with that degree of immediate, distant exposure reaction.

What probiotics are you using, if you don't mind me asking.

Vegetables can cause that degree of reaction also. So, I'm not convinced that soy is the only culprit. Sesame seed oil, cotton seed oil, some spices could also be an issue. Sunflower oil, less often. Safflower oil rarely. Canola oil-reaction. And CORN is the bane of guts, nowadays.

And keep Benedryl on hand at all times. Large doses of Vit. C and homeopathic Apis are also useful for allergic reactions.

I'm glad you are figuring things out!

Poison Ivy

Does anyone have suggestions for relieving poison ivy itch?  I'm new to holistic treatments, and hubby has a small case of what he thinks is poison ivy or oak on face and hands.
