Favorite Cloth......

I always love to read what people's favorite CD's are and why.

I use and love Bumgenius 3.0's. They are easy for me to wash and seem to fit perfectly. I also like good old fashioned prefolds with a Thirsties or Prorap Cover. I have used Snappy's and Thisties AIO and like them too.

For laundering we love Charlies soap...but in a pinch I have found that Arm and Hammer Washing Soda(not the detergent, this stuff is different and I can only find it in North Charlotte at Harris Teeter) mixed with a few squirts of Simple Green will do nicely. For stubborn stains/odors, vinegar and water seem to do great.

I fairly new to full time cloth, my new born is exc cloth right now and i'm having some difficulties.
I have several different diaper covers and mainly use prefolds, but were still leaking a little. Night time leaking is my main concern. I think i just need to change babe more frequently. Something that's harder to do in the middle of the night...kwim? But over all i'm really enjoying using cloth.

NIghtime is always an issue for us. We use lots of doublers in our diapers but sometimes we still have leaks. My 1yo is a "productive peeing machine." LOL

I was always happy with Happy Heineys. I plan on using a little more wool with this next one.

We're using swaddlebee prefolds with ABC wraps, dappi & bummi covers. I have a few Drybees & four Imse Vimse AIO's (I think that's what they are) however I'm horrible using pins to secure them. I use snappis mostly. For the overnight, I'm sheepishly use 'sposies - DH does the overnight changes & it's easier for him.

As for the laundry: I wash every other day using Alpine Soap in a warm/warm wash. If things are stinky, I'll throw in 1/4 cup vinager. For stains, I sun them for a few hours.

Perhaps TMI, but how do you deal with newborn BF poop? I soak them the toilet, but there MUST be an easier way. I fear my 4.5yr old is gonna flush one by accident some day LOL!!

I take all my diapers, pee or BF poop, and run them on a cold soak cycle in my washer. No rinsing or anything, just toss them all in. Then I do a hot, sanitize cycle after that with soap. If they aren't white enough, I lay them in the sun too. I never thought that would work until I tried it!

I like the BumGenius 3.0's and the Happy Hieny's as well. I have some AIO's andf I find that they are very hard to dry on the line, and they seem to have a stale odor once they do finally dry. Any suggestions...should I try tossing them in the dryer?

I usually just leave the BF poop on the diaper until wash day and then soak the diapers in the wash for a few hours. If the diaper is stained after the wash, I sun them until they are white again.

I love Happy Hieny's as well. They wash easily and dry quickly.

I use and sell Happy Heinys, Knickernappies, Wahmies, DryBees Pockets, DryBees Hybrids and Imse Vimse All in ones. I am looking to add Imse Vimse contours. I haven't ventured into the cloth with covers but I have a special case witha friend who is intersted. Any thought on these contours with covers by IV? My diapers now are Pockets. The only one is the IV AIO that doesn't stuff. I usually stuff with microg=fiber and HEMP to prevent leaks with my 22 month old. I love the Knickernappies liners. They are making the knickernappies diapers and lines wider in the crotch area but I like the originals just fine (they are on sale now though. At night, another good one is the DryBees Fleece night time. Istuff a hemp fold to fit and a microfiber and we are good for 12 hours. Let me know if there are any questions and I am looking for feedback on the IV contours before I ourchase them for sale.

Try adding a bit of baking soda to the wash. Also make sure you are rinsing a cold rinse first then washing. They shouls not smell. Check the ingredients in your detergent. Usually it is deposits on the diapers that will trap odors. The keys are no fragrances, softners, optical brighteners or other additives. Even check free and clear detergents. I will soon have some no sudsing no residue detergent available for use in all your laundry. Right now I use Tide regular or Planet 2x powder from Home Economist. You can also do an extra rinse to make sure there is no setergent left on the diapers. The no sudsing detergent will be easier to use b/c you don't have to do the extra rinse. I have used it and I like it. I will let you know more as I get more info. Glad to see you on the forum! Hoe do you like the Knickernappies!

I love the Drybees! They are way easier than anything with pins!! You shouldn't have to toilet swish BF poo especially if you are washing every other day. If you use vinegar try also a tad of baking soda to rebalance the PH.

The Knickernappies fit tiny babies as well as the wahmies and they are pocket diaprs so you can stuff them ahead of time and not worrry about the covers. Also, Hemp is way absorbant and I use it every night!
