Exploring Holistic Alternatives

Families practicing: Alternative & Natural Health; Attachment and Mindful Parent

I always love to read what people's favorite CD's are and why.

I use and love Bumgenius 3.0's. They are easy for me to wash and seem to fit perfectly. I also like good old fashioned prefolds with a Thirsties or Prorap Cover. I have used Snappy's and Thisties AIO and like them too.

For laundering we love Charlies soap...but in a pinch I have found that Arm and Hammer Washing Soda(not the detergent, this stuff is different and I can only find it in North Charlotte at Harris Teeter) mixed with a few squirts of Simple Green will do nicely. For stubborn stains/odors, vinegar and water seem to do great.

This is the first time I'm using cloth. It's been going pretty well the past 4 months. I usually use a microfiber doubler in a prefold at night and I also use wool covers/shorties at night. They may feel damp in the morning, but they don't leak like non-wool covers! We did have one patch of heavy nights when he was nursing all night long and I was using a Bummis cover _and_ a wool cover! LOL

Oddly enough, we had one morning when my son woke up dry?! That was weird.
I just tried (and plan to add) the Bum Genius organic all in one one size!!! What a great Diaper!
I've been thinking about getting some of these.
How quickly do the BG AIO Organic dry? My only concern about the AIO is the drying time.
I love Green Acre Designs.. They are a fitted pocket that is just wonderful.. hoenstly though, I have a TON of favorites.. I sell them all at my store..

I am also a HUGE fan of Charlies Soap. Not only is it an amazing product.. The owners are dear friends as well and you are supporting another NC based business (thank you)...

I am a huge advocate of cloth diapering and have been blessed to speak at many local events on cloth diapering.. I have lots of info on my site for anyone who would like it...

The Top Ten reasons to cloth diaper~

How to clean cloth diapers?~

How to strip cloth Diapers?~

If anyone ever needs help with anything at all.. please ask...

Cloth Diapering is very addicting... I love it!
I'm addicted to prefolds and wool! I just love being able to get a perfect fit, and I love washing my wool in yummy wool wash (right now I'm digging Sudz'N'Dudz rosewood eo wool wash).

I switch detergents pretty regularly. Right now I'm loving Country Save detergent. I do a cold soak, cold wash, hot wash, and a rinse.
We love the Bum Genius one size, they seem to hold the most. I like the velcro better than the snaps. I have an AIO but it leaks every time she pees and takes forever to dry. Am I doing something wrong?
I started making my own pocket diapers about 5 years ago, and I like them best. Not that I'm biased or anything! ;) I've started making them with bamboo velour insides instead of fleece or suede, and I like it much better. We use prefolds for inserts.

Other than that, we have a few bum genius, and some random covers. :)

With nighttime, we use extra doublers, and sometimes we put pull up covers (like rubber pants style) on top of a pocket diaper. That seems to stop most leaks.

Poison Ivy

Does anyone have suggestions for relieving poison ivy itch?  I'm new to holistic treatments, and hubby has a small case of what he thinks is poison ivy or oak on face and hands.
