messages and friends

Is there a way to send a message to another member without it being seen by the whole group? I noticed there is a function "send message" to the left under a persons name if you go to a member's page. Would this be what I am looking for?

Also, what is the purpose of the "my friends" part of a member's page?

Yes, you can send the equivalent of a private message ("PM") to someone from *their* "my page". Use the "send message" on the left side-bar.

Or on *your* "My Page", you can go to "Inbox" in the top right side-bar and select "compose". And you can choose to send a message to one of your "My Friends" (to link without an email address). That location allows you to send an email to anyone anywhere, if you have a full email address also.

The "My Friends" just puts the photos on *your* "My Page" so that you can connect more easily without having to search through all the members to visit them.

I think... LOL I'm just figuring it out as we go along. And may have missed something. I didn't know what "my friends" were three days ago. :-)

Also, it seems to me that the "My Friends" thingy has a mind of its own. Because when I looked at it just now, it indicated that I had requested someone to be "my friend", but I don't recall doing that. LOL And sometimes folks seem to become "my friend" on my page, without any notification...

I unfriended Anna to see if it notifies the person who is "withdrawn" as a friend; and it does not seem to send a "you are no longer a friend" note. Thankfully! But, I have about every member in my "my friends" at the moment!! It may make someone a friend if you send/exchange PM messages. ??
