Stop the bleeding. The fastest way to stop bleeding is to apply direct pressure. Place a clean, absorbent cloth—a bandage or a towel—over the cut, then press your hand against it firmly. If you don't have a cloth, use your fingers. This will usually stop the bleeding within a minute or two. If blood soaks through your first bandage, add a second one and press steadily. Add new bandages over old ones because removing a cloth may tear off coagulating blood cells.

  • Aloe vera gel, using fresh leaf of aloe vera or store-bought gel, apply it to wounds three to four times daily.
  • Echinacea, after adding three drops of Echinacea tincture to one tsp water, apply to cut. Additionally, drink one cup of goldenseal-Echinacea tea three times daily until wound heals.
  • Lavender oil, after cleansing, apply one or two drops of lavender oil to wound.
  • Calendula cream, apply calendula cream to cut three times daily instead of aloe vera. A combination of goldenseal and calendula is also effective.
  • Tea tree oil, cleans and apply one or two drops of tea tree oil to wound. Can be used instead of lavender oil.
  • Vitamin E, use 400 IU capsule topically. Break the capsule and apply directly to wound.
  • Vitamin A, 25,000 IU two times daily for five days. If you are pregnant or consider pregnancy, do not exceed 5,000 IU daily.
  • Bromelain, 500 mg of bromelain three times daily, for 5 days on an empty stomach. Eliminate after two weeks if no beneficial effects noted.
