A little history and the situation:
My daughter was born at home, breastfeed and not vaccinated at all. She has never has a drug of any kind in her body - prescription or over-the-counter. One evening when she was about 4 years old I noticed a "blister" on her tummy. By the next morning it had busted and had an ugly, black scab. My first thought was MRSA. I seen pictures online and it looked like the pictures. The next day the place was a little larger and we decided to take her to the doctor to get a diagnosis. It was MRSA (known as impetigo when I was a kid and had it). He wrote a script and wouldn't even discuss another option. "You don't want to mess with this", he said in a gloom and doom tone.
As I was leaving his office I called Naomi Zesken (the homeopath). She squeezed us in for an appointment the next morning. She gave me a remedy and suggested we use gel topically. I can't really remember the remedy. But it doesn't matter since they are so specific to each individual. The gel was also homeopathic - astragulas. I will get the exact name and post it. I think this helped - especially the gel, but I feel the things I did herbally are what helped the most.
I referred Stephen Burhner's book "Herbal Antibiotics" and came up with the treatment plan based mostly on things I had on hand in my house that he said was helpful:
Fresh Aloe topically 2x per day and at night before bed
Echinacea tincture by mouth 3x per day
Usnea powder topically (usually mixed with the aloe)
Astragulas gel often through out the day
She never broke out with more spots (as I understand it, most people have more than one). The one she had healed slowly - about 2-3 weeks. I am sure it would have went away faster with antibotics and it would have been less work for me. But I am pleased we chose to treat it the way we did. I feel it is cured now. She is 6 and no other out breaks have happened. I have to say, that it is very empowering to chose to not follow the doctor's advice and take care of the problem on your own. .
It will also help you to understand exactly what MRSA is. Burhner explains it really well in his book. I would recommend everyone have a copy of his book on hand. It is a jewel! It sells for about $12 on Amazon - a bargain!
If anyone doesn't know Usnea, I will be happy to share. I collect it all the time. It seems to find me every time I am outside. It is also called Old Man's Beard. Look up a picture online and you will probably realize you see outside too. It has so many uses.
I think I covered it all. I will be happy to answer questions.

Do you have a wound that you are concerned about MRSA? Consider topical lavender essential oil, coconut oil or Manuka honey. All kill staph, including MRSA.
