Does anyone have an opinion on Mercola's report on CLO?
The Weston Price foundation has a couple of updates from December 2008 saying CLO is safe.
I'm confused by both reports, especially since Dr. Mercola sits on the Weston Price board.
My son and I have been taking CLO for the past couple of months and I'm now wondering if I should stop given the possible risk of toxicity...

We are going to get the fermented CLO next time. We had an automatic shipment from vitacost set up and so we have plenty of the Nordic Naturals. But, I'm really not so concerned with the dosing issue. I did stop ds's chewable vitamin which had vit A palmitate.

Depending upon which type of CLO, and whether they deodorize it and add back synthetic vit A, those are the biggies, from my reading. And there is a cumulative affect. Also, getting the vit D outside in the sunshine is important, of course. But, I'm not supplementing vit D.

Thanks Pat!
This is just my humble opinion and call me cynical; but I'm not a big fan of Dr. Mercola as he always seems WAY to intense and tends to use a lot of scare tactics on his site and it turns me off to him . Plus,I feel like his advise on his site is more of a marketing tool for his expensive products than non-biased health information. I love how he prompted his subscribers at the end of the article to keep buying his krill oil and expensive tanning beds to get vitamin D.

I agree w/Pat's statements that CLO that contains synthetic sources of Vitamin A are the problem and that is what I have found from my reading as well.

I'm still doing more research on this but I tend to disagree with him on this statement from everything I have read:
"You’re likely getting the vitamin A you need if you regularly consume fresh vegetables high in this nutrient, such as sweet potatoes, carrots, cantaloupe, and other colorful fruits and vegetables, and butter especially, if obtained from grass fed cows".

It's my understanding that children can't convert carotenes into Vitamin A very well (as well as people with poor thyroid function or diabetes) and at that, a normal person would have to eat a LOT of vegetables to get enough vitamin A.

I plan on presenting this info to my Naturopath next week and will report back on what she says. Thanks for the interesting topic! I'd be interested in what others have to say on this!
I have had the same thoughts about Mercola, especially about his selling products, it seems like a conflict of interest.

I look forward to hearing about what your Naturopath says.
thanks,
Joy

Poison Ivy

Does anyone have suggestions for relieving poison ivy itch?  I'm new to holistic treatments, and hubby has a small case of what he thinks is poison ivy or oak on face and hands.
