Hey Pat and All,

In response to the email about low turnout; For me, it's just the luck of the draw when I will actually be able to get out. I don't want to bring my daughter, though I know she could handle herself, because of the time, (she's usually in bed by 8), and my husband works most evenings. The rare occassions you've seen me is when he's been home. But, as you can see, there is no regularity to it. I can never RSVP for anything, as he doesn't know his schedule ahead of time usually. And Sunday meetings are great in theory for us, as we could come as a family, but since that's the only day off, we tend to make plans as a family. The shame of it is that I really do want to be there. The topics are of great interest and I have really enjoyed the meetings and MNO in the past.

I'm hoping you continue to hold meetings, as I would be willing to make more effort (maybe a baby sitter!) to get there. My apologies for my inconsistency. Good luck.

Hi Pat,

I appreciate all the topics. Since January I have made a commitment to come to at least one meeting a month. I think the problem with the turnout is universal. Most families have things come up. I just received an email from the NYC Holistic Moms asking the group the same thing and they have over 300 members!

Going to moms night out, for me, feels like a real luxury in that I often put myself last when planning family priorities. However, part of my January commitment was to start attending the MNO functions but there were conflict/cancellation issues. I really hope that you try to keep creating MNO each month so that I have a chance to participate.

I also have on my calendar meeting you at the park on Tuesday the 19th if we get back from NY on time.

Please let me know if I can help the group in any way.

AFter reading this amazing list I started to think about some of the meetings that I have attended in the past with EHA. Perhaps a suggestion I have is offering the same topic as a series. Probiotics for example could be discussed at both monthly meetings because for me, the amount of information can be overwhelming and would like to have more clarification or I would like to explore the topic deeper.

All of these sound lovely...
In response to the attendance question - As a SAHM with 2 small kids, I do most of my "mommy" stuff during the day time. I have another group with which I do a monthly MNO and that's about the only evening that I go out by myself (with infant in tow). I also participate on other message boards, mom groups, etc which I have been with longer or are priority for other reasons. So I am overextended as it is, and while I like to to keep in touch with EHA, it is a little ways down on the priority list. (no offense and nothing personal!)
Earth Fare needs the Meeting Room space for some event of their own Wednesday evening, 5/20/2009.

Kristy Lampe is hosting the Homeopathy Study group at United Methodist Church in Stallings that evening from 7-9pm. Anna and I were planning to attend. Kristy is going to discuss pet homeopathy health issues, if anyone would like to join us on Wednesday.

I'm wanting to coordinate some holistic presentations for the fall and winter for the Exploring Holistic Alternatives group. I'm wondering about a Homebirth Sharing gathering. I could host at our house, or we could continue to meet at EarthFare? I'd love to host a Birth Center fund raiser additionally. Maybe both with doulas and/or hypnobirthing consultants, etc. I loved the Birth Awareness gathering we had last year. But, I wanted to promote homebirthing as an option for women to consider, and to create an opportunity to meet women who've birthed at home.

I hear a bunch of the mamas want to connect with other AP, natural mamas; but no one seems comfortable initiating a park day or playdate. :-) I understand it is hard with little ones, new babies and toddlers. I want to facilitate the natural leaning mamas to have a support network. We also will have the Play Day on the fourth Fridays at 521-Rec Center, 11a-2pm. I'm hoping a bunch of holistic mamas will come out for that!

And I'd love another Vaccine Awareness presentation. And another about Homeopathy. It has been a year, believe it or not. The Swine Flu is so fear-mongered in the news nowadays. Maybe the Vaccine concerns need to be addressed first!! Or I could see if Naomi Zeskind or Kristie Lampe wants to do a presentation about homeopathy and the flu.

Open to other ideas too! I love nutrition and pregnant mamas, new babies and food intolerances, colic, detox, yeast, eczema and probiotics, those are my specialty areas.

What are you all interested in exploring?

Poison Ivy

Does anyone have suggestions for relieving poison ivy itch?  I'm new to holistic treatments, and hubby has a small case of what he thinks is poison ivy or oak on face and hands.

If you observe some safety rules related to foods, kitchen and kitchen appliances, food poisoning will never occur. Most food poisioning effects on body clears up in a few days on its own as their duration is not for very long period.
