HomeBirth Midwives

I want to have a home birth with my next child. I'm trying to get some names of some midwives in the area. I live in Gaston county. Also, can some of you talk to me about your experience with having a homebirth and back up doctors and so forth. My husband and I saw The Business of Being Born recently and now my husband doesn't have quite as many reservations about it as he used to. So, we are looking at all of our options for where to birth our 2nd child. Also, did any of you have gestational…See More

Hi Marnita,

I think we live near each other. I am about a mile from Stanley. I have had two homebirths. My first child and homebirth was my daughter, now 5 and my son last October. He is 9 months now. I am also a doula and have been to many births in all of the charlotte hospitals and to homebirths. I will be happy to speak to you. Maybe I can answer some of your questions.

Welcome!

Gosh, farming is hard work. We had a community garden and it is seriously labor intensive, but rewarding, if unpredictable. Do you own your own land or working/starting a co-op/CSA?

Are you planning to birth at home? We have a homebirth group. (see the menu tab at the top of the page). We are kinda close to your due date to decide now, lol. But, we have a bunch of ladies who've birthed at home.

Hope to meet you at one of the outings, but glad you are here online!

Poison Ivy

Does anyone have suggestions for relieving poison ivy itch?  I'm new to holistic treatments, and hubby has a small case of what he thinks is poison ivy or oak on face and hands.
