What does "holistic" mean to you?
For me, "holistic" means believing that everything I do is connected to an experience bigger than myself.
How long have you been interested in holistic living?
Since grade school. My mom became a vegetarian when I was seven (7) and that started me on a journey of learning more about myself and the world.
a little about me
I'm a home schooling mama who loves music, reading, writing, singing, dancing, crafting and more. The list is long and varied. :o)

Shelli, you are at least the third mama up toward the University/Cabarras county area to join (that I know of). We have a Mint Hill group starting. Feel free to start a NE Charlotte/Cabarras "Group", if you'd like. Not sure that all are homeschooling, though. But, MNO is 'moms night out'. And you all might be able to have some MNO, up your way or plan some holistic presenters, or get together for events. The MNO is at the Melting Pot tonight. It is in central Charlotte at 7:30pm. It might be far, but hope to meet you sometime!

The Explore group has about 500 families, many are homeschooling up your way. Check it out. It is a busy list. You can get the messages as "digest" also. The calendar there has a lot of activities for all homeschoolers listed.

Shelli, what area of town are you in? We have a couple groups forming by location. Check "Groups" menu tab at the top of the page.

How old are your children? We are in south Charlotte, our son is seven. We homeschool also! Are you a member of the Explore and Discover group? We have a bunch of activities and outings for homeschoolers. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ExploreAndDiscover/

Hope to meet you soon. Can you join us for the MNO tonight? (last minute, I know, lol)

Poison Ivy

Does anyone have suggestions for relieving poison ivy itch?  I'm new to holistic treatments, and hubby has a small case of what he thinks is poison ivy or oak on face and hands.
