I had never heard of Reiki. But toward the end of my pregnancy a friend who does it offered some help. My baby was way up high and not dropping (seems to be a trend with my kids) and we were getting down on 40 weeks and my first baby was huge, so we were about to have a dilema. My doc didn't want to force things with an induction (neither did I!), but he was worried about the size and health of the baby (with #1 I started running low on amniotic fluid) if he let me go too far over.
ANYWAY, I went to see my friend and let her do a Reiki session with me. This was on Saturday. She spent about an hour with me. When I left I was SO relaxed and you could see a noticeable shift in the the baby. I delivered Monday morning in only THREE hours!
I would HIGHLY recommend this for preggos! :)
Edited to add: Ok, I meant for this to go in the Reiki folder. Not sure how to fix it at this point. Sorry...again. LOL
I moved this discussion to the Natural Pregnancy & Childbirth Forum, since that is where pregnant moms might look for info. I couldn't get it under the "Reiki" discussion, because it would be a discussion within a discussion.
I did add a "reiki" tag to it so it would turn up if someone searches the forums for reiki.

Ok, yes. I could move it to a different forum, but not to a "discussion" within a forum. Thanks! But what are "tags"? I clicked on that and couldn't figure it out, lol. Can anyone tag something? Does it activate some type of search tool?
When someone searches the forums, posts that are tagged with that word will show up first. I'm sure if you searched for "reiki" now without having tags this post would show up. But it will be helpful in the future when reiki could be mentioned in passing in other posts.
I think the admins can tag a post with keywords they think are useful.
I have had level I and II Reike training.
To best answer the question I googled Reike- for starters:
"Reiki" is Japanese and means "Universal Life Energy." - found at this webiste: http://www.chinatownconnection.com/reike.htm
Reike is a healing art. It is similar to healing touch or Quantum Healing Touch but its origin is Japanese.
The website above describes it well.
I imagine the Reike masters could better describe it- as I am at a loss for words (imagine that:)
I have learned much about Traditional Chinese medicine and Chakras and see Reike as another method of channeling energy- likely through these same chakra centers in the body.
I don't feel I am doing justice to answer this question...others?
Thanks for the feedback on using it in pregnancy- as I am in my third trimester- and did not know of Reike with my other two children- almost 7 years ago.

Does anyone have suggestions for relieving poison ivy itch? I'm new to holistic treatments, and hubby has a small case of what he thinks is poison ivy or oak on face and hands.
