to giving birth at home, I am really starting to feel very primal and earthy. I am starting to feel this strange connection to women from the past that I don't even know. It is becoming very empowering. Has anyone else experienced this?

Totally. I felt that way! I think women who are really in tune with their bodies experience it more. I am excited for you. When are you due?
Yes! That was actually part of a 'mantra' while in transition, that I could feel the connection with all the women before me, feel their strength. It was not a planned thing but it just happened and it was so empowering. It the most amazing feeling to feel that connection to "source" and woman power :)

I loved giving birth!!!

Interesting thought. I have not thought about it exactly that way but I have felt more and more comfortable with the idea of giving birth at home and don't have the worries about it like I used to. (3rd child but first home birth).
I went to see the play Birth and it had this kind of message- it was a collection of women's birth stories. Very empowering play- glad I got to see it while I am pregnant.
I was reading Ina May Gaskin's book- the name escapes me now- I had gotten it from the library- it had a collection of birth stories in it- I did not get through the entire book- but thinking about this again- I need to go check it out again. soon as I find it - I will share the name.

I definitely know what you're feeling. Just wait until you're in the moment, it really is an amazing experience! Good luck!
I never had a homebirth, I wish I had known more about those things when I was preg. but I do know the feeling. I love the way I feel when I'm pregnant. I think it is the most spiritual time in a woman's life. My best birth was the natural birth I had and I love listening to what my body tells me. I remember yelling at the nurses and doctors because they were trying to get me to push and pressuring me, When my body told me it was time I pushed 2 or 3 times and baby was out. I give all you moms credit for your homebirths. It almost makes me want to be preg again just to be able to do it right. LOL Don't tel hubby that though.

Poison Ivy

Does anyone have suggestions for relieving poison ivy itch?  I'm new to holistic treatments, and hubby has a small case of what he thinks is poison ivy or oak on face and hands.
