Hi all ~
I am strongly considering a homebirth for my 3rd child. I am just north of Charlotte in the Lake Norman area. I had two natural hospital births (fortunately!) & now that my midwife is leaving the practice I was at I'm wondering if homebirth is the way to go....
I have been to the NC homebirth website & filled out a request for area midwives but have not gotten any info. I do have a couple contact names given to me thru a local mom's group.
I had a homebirth with my first and am planning one for the birth of my twins early next year. It's wonderful experience! I have a feeling I know which practice you're at too...I'm going through the same thing since they're my back-up.
Send me a msg if you'd like contact info for my mw.
ok for the life of me I can't figure out this board format/how to send a private message! I would love to get your mw info & any other info you are willing to share about your experience. Thanks!

I think you might have to be "Friends" before being able to send a private message. On the person's "My Page" on the left side bar, under their photo is a "Add as Friend". Select that. Then the person has to "accept" before you can send a private message. I think. Another option is to type your email address here. :-)
The group is private. Only the main page is viewable to the public.

I found it most helpful to interview/meet the midwives and see who you "click" with. Most of the midwives will travel quite a distance to provide support.
Also, there is a Homebirth "Group", see the menu tab "Group" at the top of the page. Click to join and there are several mamas there who could help with information.
Definitely consider homebirth. There is no place like home. :-)
I can give you the # of my midwife. I'm due with my second homebirth this month. I'm also on the nw side, close to the walmart. We should have a playdate. My daughter is almost 2.
Do you know about www.preciaousarrows.com? That's where I got most of my supplies :) Do you have a doula? Charlotte doulas.com is another great resource. I can personally recommend some good contacts too...
You are welcome to contact me privately for the name of the midwife that I used and I now assist. Someone may have passed on her name to you already since there aren't as many midwives in the area as we would like to see, but hopefully that will change in the next few years.
Hi Kim, I'm wondering if you're the same Kim who contacted me about babywearing twins? :) I had midwifery care for my twins, and they were nearly born at home. :) I know lots of mommas who had their twins at home, too.
I don't know if you are on the Lake Norman Mommies website as well but there are a few of us in the NL/AP forum who (before knew about this group) have started a home birth meet up group for moms in the LKN area who are interested in home birth. You don't have to be committed to having one but if you are interested at all and have questions and want to meet other moms or have some basic qu.s answered you are welcome to come. Add me as a friend and pm me and I'd be happy to share my latest home birth experience with you. I had our dd 16 months ago at home in Davidson. I felt very confident in my care with her.

"Interesting. I do find info about Arnica as a poison ivy relief alternative. I hadn't heard of that. Homeopathic Apis helps for swelling, hives also.

"Thanks, lots of great ideas we can try. (I am a new member on the yahoo group as of last week.) We also read some information elsewhere about treating with arnica, do you have any experience with that? DH used arnica pellets on Sunday for muscle…"
"We had two recent discussions about poison ivy relief on the yahoogroup with many options to consider. Plantain, witch hazel and Epsom salt baths seem to offer significant relief.
Are you already a member there?…"

Does anyone have suggestions for relieving poison ivy itch? I'm new to holistic treatments, and hubby has a small case of what he thinks is poison ivy or oak on face and hands.
