Families practicing: Alternative & Natural Health; Attachment and Mindful Parent

I still haven't found a doctor I like for me to go to. Any suggestions? I love my pediatrician Dr. Jodie Prosser w/ Charlotte peds and just changed to Dr. Bowles at Bradford but need a good smart intuitive internal medicine or primary physician.

We just see Dr. Kanelos, a family practice doctor, he is respectful of parent's vaccine choices. He is in Weddington. But, for internal medicine, with specific issues, I'd recommend Dr. Jimmie Adcock. He is uptown though, not sure where you live.

We don't do well visits though, just for acute issues. And fortunately, we don't need doctors much. We also have our classical homeopath, Naomi Aldort, as our primary health care provider.

Where is Dr Kanelos? Stupid question but, is family practice for infants through adults?
Hi Laura, I am looking for a pediatrician, and rec'd a few recommendations on this site for doctors in the Weddington area. Being Jodi Prosser is in Matthews (I live in Matthews), I would consider her. In fact, my boss suggested her but she does not offer a meet & greet until right before my baby will be born, so I was nervous about that. I do not know what your view on vaccinations is, but would Dr. Prosser be open to me skipping some and delaying others?
Hey Laura, I swear by Dr. Jessica Spadtmauer, ND (sp?) at The Art of Living Center. She is wonderful with women (especially in the baby making season) and children and she is a Naturopathic physician. phone number 704-332-1201
Dr. Kanelos has an office in Weddington and Ballantyne. He is pro-vaccination; however, he is respectful of parent's rights. http://www.carolinafamilyhealthcare.com/

He sees patients of all ages. My homebirthing friends have seen him while pregnant and then came for a baby check a few days afterwards, just to establish a relationship.

I have our first appointment today with Dr Kanelos (for the babies). I may use him as my primary care doctor as well (when I need allopathic medicine). Otherwise, my primary care is with Dr Michael Smith, ND at Carolinas Natural Health Center. He practices classical homeopathy and clinical nutrition. They also have chinese herbal, hydrotherapy, massage, etc at his office. He's been great so far!
I think she would be open to delaying. I vaccinate . I feel it is the lesser of the evils. I chose Dr. Prosser because she has children of her own one set of twins and one other. She has a daughter close to my daughters age. She is down to earth, non alarmist-someone you could almost be friends with and talk frankly too. But she does recommend vaccines. I asked her what she did for her own children and I followed that. But I'm sure she would at least discuss delaying with you.
do they take insurance or how much are they?
Kara, Let us know if you were comfortable with Dr. Kanelos.
We take our Children to Growing Up Pediatrics in Cornelius. Dr. Wendy is great. She respects parents views regarding vaccinating. She does emplyo some holistic practices. When my son had surgery she suggested Arnica Montana. She also has Kaliana's (aromatherapy) artwork on the back of her doors and recommends them to patients.

For the adults in the family, we see Dr. Kanelos. I really like him. If for some reason it didn't work out at GUP, I wouldn't hesitate to switch my children to him.
My mom just took my sister to see Dr. William Lane in Concord. He does homeopathic/holistic care. They both LOVED him!
This isn't Kara, but I just took my youngest to Dr. Kanelos' office and saw one of the PAs and I was so delighted. From the nurses on, they LISTEN. I do vaccinate (required ones only) but my youngest was 7 and had not had past his 2 year shots and I wanted to space them out, like get one a year. And this was NO problem at this office. Hallelujah.

Poison Ivy

Does anyone have suggestions for relieving poison ivy itch?  I'm new to holistic treatments, and hubby has a small case of what he thinks is poison ivy or oak on face and hands.
