Exploring Holistic Alternatives

Families practicing: Alternative & Natural Health; Attachment and Mindful Parent

We are discussing possible presenters for the third Wednesday monthly meetings, and would love some input and feedback.

Naomi Zeskind, classical homeopathy has agreed to do an additional presentation about Homeopathy for emergencies like bleeding, fractures, spider and insect bites, bee stings, hives etc - learn how to use homeopathic remedies for your family. It will be on SUNDAY, November 2nd, at 3pm at EarthFare-Ballantyne. Note: Nov. 2nd is the end of daylight saving time.

Other possible topics:

Green Living and Mindful Home Management. (maybe everyone bring an idea to share)

The Organic Gardening guy does an interesting presentation. But, probably need to schedule him now, for spring. Maybe Feb/March?

We might be able to get Baucom's Beef (100% grass-fed) to do a presentation. Not sure what EarthFare would think of that though, lol. Or a tour on a Saturday is another possibility.

The "Aromatherapy" presentation by Christine Flannery is fun and informative.

We could get someone to do a "Reiki Intro", maybe in conjunction with massage therapy. Christine does both of those also.

I don't know anyone about Holistic Dentistry, but we could look about that. I'd like to learn more, but without a sales pitch.

Two other possibilities that I've thought would be interesting are my latest passions: kefir, especially raw milk benefits; and soaking whole grains for baking. :-)

Another could be about keeping "Backyard Chickens".

And there is a group dedicated to "Slow Food Awareness". We could probably get someone to do a presentation about the benefits of that. Or maybe Raw Foods or Local Harvest??

Does anyone know any resources about Acupuncture? I'm clueless about it and would be intrigued to learn more.

Another option is a "Law of Attraction" intro, if folks would be interested in that?

We have an EFT intro scheduled for January with Jan Luther.

Brainstorm with us and we'll work to find information that you want!

What are your thoughts? What are your interests? Or if you have any resources to suggest or offer, please do.

Also, if you are in the north part of Charlotte, consider joining the "North Charlotte" group. (see menu tab at top of page) If anyone knows of free space where the north Charlotte group could meet once a month, we could plan presentations up that way too!

Thanks,

Pat

I love these! Many I'd like to attend and some I could help with :)

I also thought people might be interested in learning more about homeschooling in Charlotte. There are *so* many resources and it's such a rich experience. I think we could have a panel to answer questions and share some of the many resources.

I would imagine one of the practioners at Carolina's Natural Health would love to do a presentation. There are 3 or 4 Naturopathic Doctors and at least 2 specialize in classical homeopathy.
My family sees doctors there- they also have message therapist and other practitioners. I can find out if they can present something.

I see you have Jan Luther scheduled for january- wow- she is awesome!!!! She is a friend and I have gone to her for EFT for a long time. (too bad I am due in January and not likely able to attend that meeting. ) I HIGHLY recommend not missing it!

The Law Of Attraction would be great- love to help with this if I can.
Maybe we could host a viewing of The Secret- I have a copy with a discussion after- this could be done in a home
maybe for a monthly gathering event. I have a small house but could bring my movie to someone's house-
I have heard and read other books as well regarding The Law of Attraction, inlcuding at Unity where it is well known and discussed.

I would love anything with Reike- how about a Reike practitioners healing circle event- much more effective to experience Reike than try to explain it. Practitioners could perform Reike on anyone- with maybe a quick introduction of what it is-
I would gladly be a part of this. I hope to put together a brochure of info some time in the near future that contains some of the information on my website- I could have at least a handout of similar information in the near future (as I have met people with no internet access who homeschool).
What is the Law of Attraction?

Did you get some info about LoA? Basically, where you put your energy is what grows.

Here is the wikipedia blurb. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_Attraction

Have you seen "The Secret" or "What the Bleep Do We Know?"

Starting in January, we have reserved the Meeting Room at EarthFare-Ballantyne monthly, on the fourth Sundays from 2-4pm, for a holistic presentation. This is in addition to the monthly third Wednesday meetings at 7:30pm. EarthFare will post the gatherings on their website, calendar and flyer!

Please chime in with what you'd like to see set up for presentations for 2009. If you have contacts, please suggest those also.

Before I plan the Sunday presenters, I wanted to see how many folks would prefer a monthly gathering on Sunday 1-3pm, rather than Wednesdays at 7:30pm, monthly. If enough folks prefer Sundays, we could add the Sunday gatherings.

Also, which presentations do folks WANT?

Thanks, Pat

Poison Ivy

Does anyone have suggestions for relieving poison ivy itch?  I'm new to holistic treatments, and hubby has a small case of what he thinks is poison ivy or oak on face and hands.
