I had a homebirth with my daughter and I am planning one with my current pregnancy. I am also a doula and so have seen what birth is like in the hosptial and at home.

I am planning my first homebirth. 1st child I had with an OB and 2nd with a nurse midwife(2nd one was natural birth) both in hospital. Two very different experiences- I am excited to make the jump to home birth this time.

I had my daughter in the hospital. It was a natural birth. The experience led me to become a childbirth educator and doula. I believe birth is a natural process. With my son I chose to have a homebirth. He came very quickly. I had him in the water unassisted. The midwife got their about 40 minutes later. I have been a doula at both home and hospital births. I am happy to answer any questions about my experiences.

I had my first homebirth just a week ago today, it was amazing. I was very youung when i had my first child 14 years ago, that was a OB medicated birth. My next 2 children were natural in a hospital.
I choose hb this time because i came to realize how birth is truely an natural process, what better place to birth than in the comfort of my own home.

Planning on having this second little one at home in Jan. I am really looking forward to it.

My 1st dd was a natural intervention-free birth with a midwife in a hospital in Maryland. My 2 boys were midwife-attended homebirths in southern Maryland. All three experiences were great and I wouldn't trade my 2 homebirths for any other experience. My second birth included a 2.5 hour retained placenta (eek!) which required lots of coaxing and some homeopathy to get out. I'm happy to help with any questions too.

Wow- I feel like I"m in great company. I'm sure questions will start surfacing the closer I get. Thanks for being willing to share info and experiences! More soon.

I fully support the homebirth choice and just attempted one with my first... unfortunately his head was turned and after 26 hours with back labor I transported. It was still another 15 hours before he was born but now that he's paved the way I hope to have homebirths in the future!

Wow! I had not checked back here in a while. I'm so glad to see so many people have joined and shared thier experience. As well as an internet community,I hope that many meetups and support group can start up from here.

I have not made it to one, but brooke atkinson has arranged a monthly meeting at the city church. But we could also do regional natural/homebirth meetings. Any ideas, times, and locations are welcome to post. Everyone is more than welcome to my home on the NW side.

Poison Ivy

Does anyone have suggestions for relieving poison ivy itch?  I'm new to holistic treatments, and hubby has a small case of what he thinks is poison ivy or oak on face and hands.
