Do you all know about the Birth Survey that CIMS (Coalition for Improving Maternity Services) is sponsoring?
They invite people who have given birth in the last three years to complete the survey. Go to www.thebirthsurvey.com

We just had a sucessful waterbirth at home two weeks ago and I can't say enough good things. There were some minor complications on my end, but our midwifes were great and they took care of me very well. I spent some time on bed rest. Which I really enjoyed, it gave me more time with my new little girl. Just wanted to share! I'm going to check out that survey!

I just completed the birth survery. I kept my midwife confidential because of NC law. I enjoyed sharing it and hope to sometime soon write about my birth and share it here. I have journaled about it on paper and need to read over it. I felt so compelled to talk about my birth after having my first home birth this past January. At first, many people I spoke to did not want to know all the details. Then when I did participate in a birth circle, I felt I rushed through my story due to time issues and such. For so long it felt like a deep need to share my story. I still like talking about it but this strong urge has fadded some. It seams like forever ago and yet it was just 5 months ago. Glad to have this forum here.

I am so glad some of you feel moved to participate in the Birth Survey. There needs to be balance in the survey results, and representation of home birth families, so that people will realize this is a valid and positive option. Congratulations to all of you new mothers and expectant mothers - whether this is your first or your fifth!! (I was my mother's fifth).
Love and peace,
Maggie

We just had our first homebirth April 14, 9:30 am, baby boy Ethan, 7lbs 15.5 oz. All went well, was a "land" birth, I had him while standing/squatting, was in labor 6 hours, pushed 2 hours. No problems, beautiful experience, life changing, wonderful! I now wish I had had my past 2 (girls, 5 & 2) at home as well and hope that homebirths become legal in all states, especially NC. I have my birth story saved on my computer for anyone interested...very detailed but is just one page (no spaces). If we have more children, will definitely be another homebirth for sure!!!

Hi ladies!! I am soo excited to have found such a wonderful group and resource for others!:) We had our 5th baby last June at home and what a JOYful experience~ one I will never forget ( nor want too!!) only wish I had done it from the start of having my babies!
I hope this is ok to post but my dearest friend is in training to become a doula and needs to participate in 3 births ( she would LOVE to do a homebirth!) in order to complete her certification so sending this out - I did not use her as my doula but she is SUCH a wonderful friend and she is so passionate about women and babies this just fits her to a T!! Ok enough of that if you want any more info on Mrs. Dawn lmk Ill be happy to connect you with her! thanks ladies and can't wait to start reading some birth stories-- it is about that time for me to add to this family! *wink!

Poison Ivy

Does anyone have suggestions for relieving poison ivy itch?  I'm new to holistic treatments, and hubby has a small case of what he thinks is poison ivy or oak on face and hands.
