Soap making in the summer is much better since it can be done outside, a little safer with younger kids around....
I did just join the Explore and Discover group, looking forward to some meet ups. :)

I *think* I joined the North Charlotte group lol...I'll have to go back and check...

Thank Pat!
My girls are 11 and 7, so there's never a dull moment for me here lol.

Sadly, I no longer am in business. The store was in MA and I had to close it when we relocated to NC. Was fun while it lasted though. ;) Not sure what I could offer other than a soap making tutorial at some point :)

Hi Pat,

Yes, have 2 kids, 5 and an 22 mo. old, both girls. We also have at least one more on the way (I am pregnant and it's possible it could be twins but we aren't sure yet) due in April.

Thanks for the invite, I saw it for this Saturday, can't make it but hope to make it to an event soon.

By the way, I haven't ever taken the extra time to do research on Holistic Medicine or diet but have always been interested. What's held me back from the diet is how expensive it is to go all natural so I just take the short cut and eat as natural as I can on a tight budget. I have, however, always been interested in learning more on the effects of herbal healing vs. mainstream medicine but that, too, is something I haven't pursued but not because of price, just haven't taken the time to do so yet. This is something I am extremely interested in and hope to get more involved in soon.

I have always wanted a full herb garden and am getting there, just the frangrant ones right now, lavender and sage b/c all the other ones I started from seed didn't make it. My taragon and chives came up but were overtaken by the sage. I have some bee balm that I can't wait to see take off next year. I hope to add some more over the next year or so. My great grandmother was what I guess you would call a holistic healer, she used herbs to cure common ailments and injuries. I have always admired that and have always wanted to learn more about it. My grandmother, her daughter, was a huge inspiration to me growing up and she too, carried on some of her mother's teachings. She had one heck of a green thumb that I just haven't had time to put too much time into but it's something I feel very drawn to. I often wish that I could have been around during the older eras, life was so much simpler and that's something I try hard to make of my life as well.

More later,

Leslie Barden

Pat-- my work involves large corporate deals... so I'm not much use in the personal realm. I will ask a few of the attorneys here if they have any recommendations. Also, depending upon the situation, our firm does do pro-bono matters. Could you have her contact me directly? Thank you! Christine

Pat, Thanks for the invite. We will look at our schedule to see if it possible to come. Is it mostly women? Or are there husbands there too? I know you said families, but just checking...
Thanks, Eva

Yes, we recently moved here and I have been slow to 'put my name out there' b/c Charlotte seems so medically oriented. However, people have been encouraging me b/c there is such a need. I am still trying to figure out the site, so please continue to make recommendations for what I can/should do. Obviously, marketing is not my strength.

Hi, I am still trying to learn how to use this site. I work full time and family time is on the weekends. Being in Mooresville will make it hard to get to events but we will try. Where is the member resource page?

Looking forward to seeing you at Aladins if that happens. We may make it on Saturday to your home. I think that is so wonderful that you organized something like this. The reason I say may is because my in-laws are expected to arrive that day and I may need the extra time for last minute errands. Is it alright not to have a definite answer? I will certainly know as we get closer. Let me know what works best for you.

Poison Ivy

Does anyone have suggestions for relieving poison ivy itch?  I'm new to holistic treatments, and hubby has a small case of what he thinks is poison ivy or oak on face and hands.
